Exercise Physiology

Accredited Exercise Physiologists (AEPs) are university qualified allied health professionals equipped with the knowledge, skills and competencies to design, deliver and evaluate safe and effective exercise interventions.

Exercise physiologists specialise in treating people with chronic medical conditions, injuries or disabilities. 

Pathology domains covered by the services of AEPs include:

  • Oncologies (cancers)
  • Metabolic (obesity, diabetes)
  • Neurological (MS, stroke, Parkinson’s disease)
  • Cardiovascular (CABG, hypertension, chronic heart failure, 
  • Musculoskeletal (hips, knees)
  • Respiratory
  • Pulmonary
  • Renal
  • Mental health
  • Any other conditions for which there is evidence that exercise can improve the client’s clinical status.

Initial Appointment

$125 | 45 Minutes
If you are a new patient to first book an in clinic Initial Consultation for a comprehensive private assessment.

Review Appointment

$92 | 45 Minutes
All the Initial Appointment patients may then attend a revision consultation with an Exercise Physiologist in the gym. After the assessment, the clinician will provide an individualised exercise program.

If you have Private Health insurance or you are currently or plan to apply for Medicare Care Plan, NDIS, Aged Care, WorkCover, TAC, DVA funding streams you may qualify for rebates under these compensable schemes.

Why should you see an exercise physiologist?

Exercise Physiologists are qualified to prescribe exercise for health, rehabilitation and fitness.  The skills and knowledge of an Exercise Physiologist are developed over 5 years of University education which enables us to treat proficiently in a variety of settings. This includes land-based exercise, water-based exercise (hydrotherapy) and through education via individualised health counselling and facilitated group programs.

Do I need a referral?

You don’t need a referral unless you are being treated by our AEP’s through the following compensable schemes:

 

  • Medicare Chronic Disease Management (CDM) Plan
  • NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme)
  • WorkCover/WorkSafe
  • TAC (Transport Accident Commission)
  • DVA  (Department of Veterans Affairs)

 

Can I claim for exercise physiology services?

Once the session is completed with the Exercise Physiologist, we process these via our HICAPS machine terminal at reception so that you receive your rebate as quickly as possible.

Rebates offered via HICAPS or EFTPOS:

  • Selected Private Health Funds
